Shaping the future of energy together – safely, sustainably and with bright prospects for the future
OGE publishes its 2025 Sustainability Report
Natural gas, hydrogen, CO₂: In these three business areas, OGE is developing the infrastructure for a future worth living and is doing its bit to protect the climate in a sustainable and affordable way. Building on this ambition, the company has achieved a great deal in 2025, as documented in its latest Sustainability Report.
“This Sustainability Report showcases the steps we are taking to achieve our goals,” explains Sustainability Manager Jennifer Buchkremer: “The report published for the Group complies with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), disclosing the information required by law, while the OGE report highlights various projects and concrete examples demonstrating how OGE is actively contributing to a future worth living – economically, ecologically and socially.”

The future of energy begins now
OGE has ushered in the hydrogen era by converting existing natural gas pipelines to hydrogen and building dedicated hydrogen pipeline sections for a hydrogen core network. The first pipelines from Lower Saxony to North Rhine-Westphalia have already been gassed up.
And with the commissioning of the H2 training centre in Werne – the only one of its kind in Europe – the company is offering its own employees and external specialists onsite training in the safe handling of hydrogen.
OGE is also involved in key H2 import projects alongside partners from France, Spain and Portugal.
A responsible approach to the future
With the commissioning of TENP III, OGE has strengthened security of supply for Germany, Switzerland and Italy. TENP III is one of the most important north-south pipeline connections for natural gas transmission in Europe.
The current challenges regarding the financing of the hydrogen ramp-up require political clarity, a reliable regulatory framework and investment security, and OGE is actively committed to finding viable solutions.
Through its third business segment, CO₂ transportation, OGE is working to create a safe and efficient pipeline infrastructure to move CO₂ from the point of capture to storage sites or industries for utilisation, with safety for people and the environment being the top priority.
Focus on greenhouse gas emissions
Protecting the climate and the environment is a key priority for OGE. The company is continuously developing innovative technical solutions to reduce its emissions, for example during sampling and maintenance work. Using effective measures and measurable targets, OGE is reducing its overall footprint.
Because it all comes down to people
OGE is tackling the challenges of the energy sector with a strong and diverse team, and the new report highlights the activities aimed at a safe and healthy transformation. Diversity shapes OGE’s corporate success. Meanwhile, the new Future Workshop offers OGE apprentices technical innovation and learning at the highest level.
The full OGE Sustainability Report is available on the OGE website.
The Group Sustainability Report in accordance with the CSRD can be found as part of the VGT Group Annual Report on the Vier Gas Transport GmbH website.
